The VersaTac line for summer! A whole lot of R&D went into their technical design. We developed them in conjunction with military professionals and outdoorsmen who are more the type to read Field & Stream rather than Men’s Journal. We’ve even found that U.S. Special Forces have taken a special liking to our VersaTacs. When your life is constantly in harm’s way, you want the ultimate protection in clothing. The Light Shorts are made with super tough yet lightweight 3-oz Duralite Nylon fabric (the same kind used in our Weatherpants), and features a gussetted crotch and double-reinforced seat. They sport the following: side cargo pockets with internal pockets to hold a flashlight, mag clips, and energy bars; vertical zippers on front cargo pockets that allow quick access while sitting, kneeling or driving a vehicle; and reinforced pocket openings to prevent abrasion against knife clip chafe. Front pockets close with Velcro and double-button closures, and two back pockets have flaps with Velcro and double-button closure as well. Additional Cell phone pocket now incorporated behind the top of both cargo pockets.
These shorts are the bomb I have literally lived in a pair of these shorts along with a pair of the long pant version for weeks while in-country. They dry quickly after a long rain and can be easily hand washed and air-dried overnight. I'm sad they are no longer made. You'll find operators across the globe wearing Versatac Light pants and shorts - and for good reason. The are highly functional and nearly indestructible.

Love these shorts. I've had a pair of (I guess) now discontinued RR shorts for over 10 years which have been my go-to shorts since I got them. They are still in great shape after 100s of wears on several continents so when I decided I needed a new pair of shorts RR was my first choice. No regrets. These shorts are also great
I don't know what voodoo RailRiders discovered while sailing the seven seas but my Versatac Light Shorts have survived earthquake wildfire pandemic and three children while wearing them nearly every day over the past three years. I'd consider donating them to the Smithsonian for the stories they'd tell but then I'd have nothing to wear since they have vanquished all other shorts from my drawer. One and done.
These are the shorts version of the Versatac pants with the same comfort and ruggedness and the same easily-accessed and well-organized pockets. They are just the ticket for piloting in the summer heat
Im rough with my clothes as an outdoors person and these are not only one of the most comfortable shorts they fit well and more importantly have the functionality I cant find in other shorts. Zippered cargo pockets are not as bulky knife holder inside those pockets work well as does the wear of the material. Previously had a couple of the ultra lights that wore thru quickly but not these.
These are great everyday shorts. Plenty of storage for all those items one needs to carry. Love the "cell phone" pocket with the Velcro security closure. Sizing chart is accurate.
I like these even more than my earlier Versatac shorts. The fit is excellent and true to size. The fabric is comfy and seems very tough. Ive been living in them since they arrived and Im thinking I really should order a second pair to wear when these are in the laundry.
It's not easy to improve on a great product but Railriders did just that. The addition of deeper larger cell phone pockets with Velcro closure keeps our phone handy and secure. I wear them every day and still have not worn out a pair of these shorts. Thanks guys
Not a lot to add to the reviews already posted. The shorts are fabulous and well made. It's a great design and well implemented. I wish every retail outlet was run with as much integrity as this one.
