Ready. Aim. Get fired up with our VersaTac pants. A whole lot of R&D went into their technical design. We developed them in conjunction with military professionals and outdoorsmen who are more the type to read Field & Stream rather than Men’s Journal. We’ve even found that U.S. Special Forces have taken a special liking to our VersaTacs. When your life is constantly in harm’s way, you want the ultimate protection in clothing. The Mid Pants are heaviest in the line and are made with extra-durable 6.6-oz Yukon Canvas weave nylon fabric, and feature a gusseted crotch and double-reinforced knees and seat. The Mid pants sport the following: side cargo pockets with internal pockets to hold a flashlight, mag clips, and energy bars; vertical zippers on front cargo pockets that allow quick access while sitting, kneeling or driving a vehicle; and reinforced pocket openings to prevent abrasion against knife clip chafe. Front pockets close with Velcro and double-button closures, and two back pockets have flaps with Velcro and double-button closure as well.
VersaTac-light Pants are amazing They are very functional and take anything you can throw at them. Regrettably they are no longer in production and I know of nothing else which comes close. If you love these pants take a moment to let RailRiders know.
Greatest cargo pants ever owned. Buttons as opposed to wimpy snaps flat felt seams reinforced at appropriate locations. Front pockets are a tad to deep if wearing a watch and trying to retrieve coins/keys at bottom of pocket watch gets hung up on pocket.Had two pair of black VersaTac-light Pants that had what I believe was a manufacturing error in that cell phone pocket was not deep enough thus phone escapes while sitting. Returned pants with no issue.Again great pants
I am involved in SAR and high-angle rescue and these pants have never failed me. Both the Versatac Light pants and shorts have been bulletproof against abrasion and tearing and still manage to look great in the backcountry. Quick drying and indestructible comfort. My only ask is to please offer the shorts again -)
Great casual wear. Color fast and holds up like no other. Very confortable for walking hiking or just lounging. Good and comfortable for long car rides and the cargo pockets are great. Been a long time user and purchaser of these and so far so good.
As always.. I appreciate the quality of Rail Riders clothing.... (I do miss the depth of the phone that I have on my older model pants but don't regret my purchase).

The Total Cats Meow up until the Versa Tac Light I had to shop for tough light weight pants like this in Florence Italy Voilla Tough strong and light as a feather. And they save me a bunch on air fare. Love em.
Love the pants especially the zippered front access to the cargo pockets to use when sitting Big wish... need to make in a size 28 inseam
I have several pairs of different models of Rail Riders. Since I purchased my first pair (I believe these ere Versa Tac-mid pants) I have gradually evolved into wearing almost nothing but Rail Riders (and one pair of very similar design from Orvis). My first pair has bee worn many many times for everything from camping through hiking and fishing to grandkids' high school sporing events without any sign of wear. As for these VersaTac-light pants I have just begun to wear them but have complete faith that they will wear like all my others and I will be completely satisfied. One small negative comment. While I appreciate the added security the buttons AND velcro give to the pockets.I find it very difficult to open and close the rear pockets while wearing the pants. Perhaps the buttonholes will loosen with time but I will probably settle for using the velcro only for average daily wear. One last comment on Raid Riders in general. I am of average height--at least for a Baby Boomer--we're growing them bigger nowadays. However I have a short inseam and the 30" length I order is still a bit long. Because of their construction (note the reinforced heel on the Versa Tacs) having these pants hemmed is problematic. If there are enough customers like me Rail Riders might wish to consider offering 28' inseams or even customized length on order for a fee.Jim L..
These pants are awesome I see more joining the pair I bought recently on my clothes rack. They can be worn in town or in the woods. My type of pants. I think these pants are perfect.
So far so good My versatac-lights have been through a few wash cycles and look like new. Pros Material has pleasing texture and weight.Nice deep front pockets. Quick drying.Cargo pockets well positioned (don't try to carry heavy bulky things if hiking).Cons Be aware that the tiny elastic pockets within the bigger cargoes tend to snag things like pocket knives because of all the stitching required for construction. If I could I would rate these pants a 4.85
